Default Touring Rear Axle Nut Wrench Size ?

I pulled my rear wheel off to send it for tire replacement, had to borrow a 1 7/16 socket from my father's big tractor fixin' toolkit to remove the axel nut.
I went into Sears today looking for a better alternative, but 1 7/16" isn't in their catalog exept as an outrageous 3/4 socket. I checked the nut size with a set of calipers and it was 35.3 mm from flat edge to flat edge, and the 1 7/16" socket has a little slop. Does anyone know of an available alternate for this nut? Has 36mm worked for anyone?

Thanks

It is a 36mm nut...

And FWIW, there are wrenches that are designed for that particular job.. Motion Pro sells them for about 25 dollars, handle and a hole for the torque wrench....

Good deal, thanks for that. Glad I kept the receipt, the 36mm socket was $5, the 1 7/16" world turner I bought today was $19.

Could you help me with one other question. I need to adjust the clutch this weekend also, I found a thread that suggested getting a 11/16 deep well and weld a nut to it, so that an allen wrench will fit through and hold the adjuster in place, any idea what size allen wrench, I want to stop by the Craftsman place tomorrow and pick everything up.

Thanks again for the quick response. I could (and have) spent hours on the forum this last week. My wife is getting suspicious. I tried to console her but she is certain I am having an online affair.

"Sorry baby, I've only got time for one mistress, and she needs a clutch adjustment"

I think it is a 7/32 .... It's late and I have my tools arranged in such a way that I don't look or search.....

dang, at least you used the correct wrench size. I used a vise grip and a rubber mallet! (for the cone nut that is)
