I just noticed yesterday while cleaning the bike that my right side Jackpot 4" muffler is also discoloring. What a bummer. I did not try to polish it out so I don't know if it will come out or knot. They have been on the bike for about a year and a month. I also have a Fuel Moto micro tuner that was put on at the same time.

Brown happens to Stainless at about 390. You want yellow, richen it up, lose some power or cover it with a heat shield. Nothing you can do to stop Stainess from oxidizing at TC operating temps. Even chrome turns blue.

Same problem as all y'all. If the muffler body belled out closer to the end of the heat shield, wouldn't be near the eye-sore.

I have had the right side muffler discolor on two mufflers within 1k. Problem is HEAT aka catalytic converter. It takes a lot of heat to make em work. Since I installed FM 2/1/2 stainless. (no ceramic) it like I installed air conditioning on the bike. I don't have the JP mufflers but have not experienced any heat related issues. Those of you that are decatted with good maps and still having an issue maybe your maps are still too lean or the muffler body is inferior.

How do the black coated mufflers and pipes hold up to the heat-discoloration?

Mine haven't discolored at all (I'm running the 2-1 road and track setup.) My only issue was how easily the coating chipped from road debris. This might have been an isolated issue, but I've learned to live with it. Hard to see unless you really get up on the bike and look. The system sounds awesome though, very happy with it.
