Do the heated gloves just plug into the 12v cigarette lighter port? Never had a pair but considering it after today's ride.

No, a coax plug is needed to go to a power source. The gloves plug into a controller (thermostat) which plugs to the power source. When coupled with the jacket liner, the gloves plug into the jacket sleeves, the jacket into the controller and it to power.

The power cord is not included but can be purchased from Gerbings.

 

Is the coax plug thingy the same thing as a plug in for a battery tender that goes right to the battery on the bike?

You can buy an adaptor to use the battery tender pig tail as long as it is fused. That is how I plug mine in.
