Default I think l finally " get" ape hangers!

On Sunday l was walking and saw a bike coming, thinking it was a Harley l watched it, it wasn't a Harley but an old Triumph with shoulder high ape hangers it looked so cool, so l get why apes are popular they looked so badass !

that they can and do, i dont use them because of comfort... most people however do use them for the comfort then the looks, i think...

seems like the really high ones would put a lot of pressure on the rotator cuff / shoulders

The way I understand it, "Apes" come from the days of hard tail motorcycles. Think Captain America and Billy from Easy Rider. Those kind of bikes. If you watch the movie, you can see how rigid those bikes were over bumps etc. Anyway the idea with apes is, that you can do a "pull up" over bumps so you don't take it in the rear. As opposed to standing up on the pegs. I may be wrong, and if I am maybe an old head will chime in and correct me on this.

Yep...ape hangers seem to be on 1/3 of the bikes I've seen, which was a small reason why I've never had them.

Apes are comfy if you don't take it too far. JMO.

Makes sense....unless you are a fatty like me. No way I can do a pullup!!!

The narrow ones look useful for lane splittin though.

I dig my stock bars too much to change over, however.
