Default Denim Paint Cleaning - Revisited...

For anyone who has denim paint jobs - I found a new tool to put in my arsenal (and forgive me if someone figured this out first!) -

I have been using windex successfully to spot clean with great results. However today I mistakenly used my leather clad finger to get some dirt off my tank where the crease is between the tank and center strip on my Fat Bob. This left black leather gook in place of the dirt I was trying to get off.

Anyway, got home and used the windex and no luck - black streak would not come off. On a whim I grabbed one of my wife's Magic Erasers, wet it, wrung it out and rubbed lightly on the mark and voila!!! Gone! And (knock on wood) no glossy spot left.

DISCLAIMER: as always - before anyone goes off and rubs their whole bike with a magic eraser, test it on an inconspicuous spot.

Windex isn't news to me. I've been using it for almost 2 years. And I never"rub" the paint.

I was able to use cleaner wax on my black denim bike without making the paint shiny. I did not wax the entire bike with it, but if I got any marks like from the back seat or something I could smooth them out with it.

sheesh..... the denim paint is not as delicate as a lot of people make it out to be. in fact, i found it to be much more durable than a high gloss paint job. you can just about clean it up with anything. regular soap and water, windex, whatever. just don't use something to make it glossy and you're good. i used windex with ammonia. it streaks less than the non-ammoniated formula, just don't use it on the windshield.

Actually, he could make a comment about Windex, if he or anybody else wanted to because, even though the OP commented about what he finally had to use, he did make a reference to Windex. That's just how things roll here.
