Stripped Compensator Nut

Stripped Compensator Nut
I am replacing the Primary Drive Chain and removed the compensator sproket. I was putting the compenstor nut back on and it started to get tight then got loose again. I pulled it off and noticed that there was some leftover locktight from the first time I pulled it off but there were a few busted threads. I am going to replace the nut but was wondering if I would need to replace the shaft also. The threads arent real bad but I don't want to try to force it back on. is there a lot of torque on that nut?

Nut or, bolt? My bike is an '08 Heritage and, a bolt is used to secure the compensator. The bolt is torqued to 100 ft/lbs then loosened 1/2 turn. Then, torque to 140 ft/lbs. You really need a shop manual.

It's NOT a nut that secures the compensator, it's a bolt. Also, there is not a "jackshaft", that's the end of the crankshaft.

1995 FXD compensator uses a NUT!! Buy a new nut and a service manual, crankshaft is probably fine.

Depends on the year. My '94 most definitely uses a NUT.
