Default Rear fender damaged by signal relocate kit. Pictures.

This is the email sent to Kuryakan today. Has anyone had experience with a situation like this?

Kuryakan Rep,

I purchased part no. 3155 (rear signal relocation bracket) for my pristine 2007 Dyna. This bike is almost flawless, at least it was until your bracket broke causing damage to the rear fender. The part was purchased Sept. 2nd 2014 and was on the bike for less than 250 miles.

I was on the highway heading to the Bikes, Blues and Barbeque at 6:00 am on Sept. 25th. Five miles out of town there was a tremendous rattling sound from back of my motorcycle. I pulled to the side of the highway and found the Kuryakan bracket had broke and was hanging by the turn signal wire. This caused paint damage and the necessity to purchase a $100.00 Harley Davidson Bracket to replace the defective Kuryakan product.

That sucks, man. But straighten something out for me.

I can clearly see the broken bracket/tail light hanging there on the left side of the tail light in the first pic, but it appears to me that the paint damage you're claiming is on the right side of the bike... nowhere near where the bracket actually snapped.

Just pointing it out because I'm pretty sure a rep looking at this is going to notice the same thing.

The first picture is of the bike with everything in good shape. It's just an odd angle that makes it look broken I guess. The broken mount is on the right side. When it broke I pulled to the shoulder of the highway, secured it and did an emergency cut (finger nail clippers) of the signal wire just down the road. I then stored it in a saddlebag. I did not take any pictures of it hanging off the bike.

Sorry man. They have a year warranty but that wont help the paint. Bet they have some stupid disclaimer if fine print that says they're only responsible for cost of item is case of defect. Good luck. Hope you make out. Let us know.

As far as a warranty I do not want a replacement part. I put the Harley relocate kit on in the Hotel parking lot at 10:00 at night after picking it up at Pig Trail Harley the next day. $100.00 for something I don't like (that's why I bought the Kuryakan that looks much better). This simple little relocation project could potentially cost me a hell of a lot of money. I now have to fix the paint on the fender and I'm still needing to find a kit that looks good. The Harley kit was meant to just get me home.

So, no bump, drop, no nothing? It just snapped off? Hard to believe.

you could not give me anything Kury and that is why.

I am looking at the pictures and it appears to me there are sharp bends without radiused corners... this leads to stress risers and fractures, and IMHO that is what happened to your part... poor design

The bike has never been dropped. I think if you look at the discoloration in the fracture it may tell a story. What do you look for in a broken piece of metal like this?

My (admittedly limited) experience with Kuryakin stuff is that it's nice looking, but poorly designed and cheaply made of poor quality materials.
