Default Is HD forcing dealers to charge more?

Is Harley reducing dealer allotments if the dealers do not make enough profit?
Heard this nasty rumor.
Anyone else have any input on this?

Yes,Shareholders weren't happy with lower than expected returns last year. They're also putting the squeeze on Independents parts prices.

The amount of profit a dealer makes (or doesn't make) has nothing to do with the value of HD Stock. They will reduce dealer allotments if they don't sell enough bikes, just like Ford, Chevy and Toyota will do if a given dealer doesn't sell enough cars.

MOCO setting the prices dealers ask sounds like "price fixing" and is a violation of the Antitrust Act. I could be wrong though.

THIS. They cannot tell a dealer to charge more. Dealers are not owned by the MOCO. I think that a lot of people still do not understand that.

Every dealer is entitled to certain volume discounts. That's with any consumer product, not just motorcycles.

True, but MOCO can engage in extortion, very carefully of course.
