Post Hitting the Gas with No GO in 5th and 6th

Hi Guys!

My first technical question to be asked and hope you guys can help.

What's happening is that if I pull the throttle slowly, power is given to the wheel. When I open it up, the engine goes but its as if its in neutral!

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Agreed. Clutch.
Don't ride it till you look at it or have it looked at.
"limping it" to a dealer or other tech would be O.K.

Get the service manual...

read up on how to PROPERLY adjust the clutch and/or cable. Your cable could have stretched, or any number of possibilities. Doesn't necessarily mean the clutch itself has taken a dump, but then again, it could have.

No matter 'how you slice it', full inspection of the cable and then adjusting the clutch and clutch cable should be done first before opening the primary to inspect the clutch.

Do you hear squealing, and notice a bunch of white smoke coming from the rear tire when you crank it hard?

Don't forget you'll want to have a replacement gasket handy if you take off the clutch inspection cover.

Its a good idea to have a new on hand, I used to put a new one on every time I changed the Pri oil, but I realized you can re-use that gasket several times if its not been pinched or flattened out.. I've reused mine for 3 yrs now and never had a leak.

If you have a new one on hand chances are you'll never need it, don't have a new gasket on hand you will tear the old one when removing the primary cover. Clutch inspection cover gasket? I don't know , I have never needed a new one, ever!!!!!
