duplicolor paint shop jet black
Does anyone know if this is a match to vivid black? I'm painting some lids on a 01 electra glide and trying to save some cash by doing it myself. Thanks

I've tried and it works just fine... but if you are spraying a larger section, I would test it first, somewhere where its not noticeable. Maybe behind a saddlebag.
I keep a small bottle in my saddlebag for quick touch-ups.

Ford color UA is as close to vivid black as you are going to find.
It is a straight black.... almost like the old code 99 stuff from the bad old days.
Go look at a Ford F150 in black, chances are it is code UA. Look at the VIN tag on the door and on the bottom left if you see UA that is the color.
I have used that color on my 03 Vivid Black and it is hard to tell the difference

OK I just looked at that stuff.... it is nothing more than lacquer paint.... if you can buy lacquer in your area you might as well just find some 99L and some 70 degree thinner and have at it.
If you are really trying to save money, but want it done close to right, I would say prep and shoot the parts in Lacquer then hand them to a body shop and ask them to throw them in the booth with their next paint job and shoot clear on top of it.

I am a body guy. Black is Black is Black. They are all the same unless you start throwing metallic into the mix.

Do yourself a favor and run away from that Duplicolor crap. I watched and read as much as I could then I used the midnight blue a couple years ago for the same reasons that you have stated. Looked good for a while but didn't last/ wear for crap. 3 months of hard riding and I really regretted the waste of time and money. Lays down real thin. Making polishing a pita. Do yourself a favor go to Checker Auto or whatever place you found the duplicolor and ask about 2K paint. You don't need the highend stuff. Brand name I used was Nason. You can get paint color matched if needed. I think I paid something like $150-$200 for a quart of red a quart of black hardener and clear. Results were way better. Only issues were because of my minimal experience and even with that I get a lot of compliments. Good luck on whatever you decide to try out.
