Default Cholo 39" to baffle or not to baffle

To all you 39" Cholo guys out there. I just got of the phone with Samson and talked to a very nice and informative gentlemen. It sounds like Samson is starting to get back on track. Yes, they still have backorders. (34, 39" without baffles and 2 on backorder with baffles).

I'm having a hard time deciding to go with baffles or without. Does having baffles change the tone?

Do the guys with baffles wish they would have gotten them without and visa versa?

Thanks in advance!!

I have 39's on my other softail and they sound AWESOME. I also had baffled and non baffled on my 2013 flstc (see sig). The non baffled sounds a lot better than baffled and makes significantly more power. I've ordered a set of non baffled 36's to replaced the baffled version I have now.

Tailsfrommycrib: Thanks for the info! I contacted Samson and he told me the non-baffled are extremely loud. That doesn't really bother me, just want that nice sound and of course the awesome look of 39". I'm leaning towards the non-baffles.

No baffles. They sound awesome, especially at that length. That's how Harley's are supposed to sound. I went with short shot no baffles on my Springer, and they are just glorious, if a bit too loud... lol.

Toofat: Thanks for the youtube link. I think I have listened to every youtube vid on cholos. But, I don't think I have run across one with baffles. Doesn't really matter, I'm going 39" no baffles.

Rhino: I agree, that's how a Harley should sound!! Its intoxication!

The baffled ones sound like a honda shadow running on 1 cylinder.

Micah: That's good enough for me to go with non-baffles.

Long pipes will usually lose a little low end TQ.. Long pipes without baffles will/probably lose even more...

So if you want the Look and sound, then just be prepared to have less TQ in the low end..

ITs all about what you want....

oct1949: I definitely want the looks and sound. I will just compensate with a BB kit and cams to gain back the tq and then some. I'm not looking for a speed demon. Just something that looks nice, sounds nice and can back it up with some hp and tq.
