Default Washing bike with exposed air filter

This seems real dumb to ask but here goes. Just bought new bike with screaming eagle air cleaner. It's the "CVO" style with the exposed element, came with a rain sock. When you guys wash bikes with this style of filter do you always throw the sock on or just try not to douse the air cleaner? Just wondering how getting it wet could take the oil out of filter causing it to need to be reoiled more often.

Toss the rain sock on and avoid spraying it directly. pretty simple process.

or wrap a grocery sack around it and not worry.

Put a plastic bag, store type, over element and push excess in around back of filter.

Rain riding will get more water in the intake than washing.

Really? If you can't figure this out on your own..."you're not worthy!".

Oh yeah...and to be extra careful, cover your entire bike with shrink wrap before washing it.

I know how or what to cover it with, guess I was wondering if it was necessary. Sounds like most guys do. Thanks for the input all.
