Default Almost a full quart low before oil change at 5,000m

Never had a bike burn oil like that. Seems I'm almost a full quart low and need to do a 5k oil change. I had the bike serviced at 1k and checked the oil level at around 2,500 and it was still at the level they had the bike at (top of the jiffy stand mark) after the 1k service.

Any ideas why I'm burning so much oil? I have intake, V&H power duals and monster rounds, and an FP3. I've noticed a lot of black soot on the left exhaust coming from the rear cylinder.

Some burn oil during break in, then good to go for 100,000 miles.

Maybe never got broken in and rings seated, but dealer will be able to tell for sure.

They sometimes run a video scope into the cylinder to see what the problem might be.

On mine there was something wrong, and they replaced the motor.

I usually do my own maintenance and was planning on doing the oil change myself, but I guess I'll take it to the dealer just to have them check it. Better safe than sorry.

I did. I checked after my 50 mile commute. I did a double-take this time because I couldn't believe how low it was. I checked it three times hoping it would get higher. lol

So, your oil was at the upper level at 2500 miles? This would translate to using a quart in 2500 miles. Makes no sense that it started using oil all of a sudden at 2500. In any event, I would have them do a compression test & a leakdown test.

Oil consumption can vary due to things like riding with a hot engine and riding at higher speeds. A Harley being a quart low after 5,000 miles is not unusual. As for the soot have you had the bike tuned for the changes you made?
