I have been pondering this cause a bud of mine has managed to blow an engine. He has an 03' Dyna with a TC and he takes care of his bike. This makes me wonder how in hell he manage to blow an engine beside not putting oil in it?

Depends what the engine was doing and what the bike was doing at the time. Just off the top of my head, hitting a false neutral and momentarily revving it to the moon before the rev limiter has a chance to kick in could have adverse effects.

All I know is he said he had to rebuild the engine cause he blew it. I haven't the foggiest idea how and why. He been riding bikes a hell of a lot longer than my 3yrs.

Generic term that is sometimes used to mean anything of a destructive nature thus making the machine non-functional.
For example someone might have ridden that bike with bad chain tensioners, debri from tensioner shoe clogged the the oil pump and the engine gave-up the ghost.

I guess we'll all be wondering until you hear from him how he screwed the engine.

different ways to blow an engine..

Not changing the oils

Running low oils

Wrong oils...

over winding.

Burn-outs...

Made Mods and installed wrong..

ETC...ETC

But Mostly on a 88''er --- too many miles on the Cam Tennsioners pads.... and didn't check them or replace them when needed...

At least with me, getting something blown and screwing are part of the same event.

Without having more specifics...we can sit here and "guess" all day long. It's almost as vague as someone saying "My car just died on the highway"...uhm..OK...specifically "what"?

Doesn't have to be from neglect or abuse...sometimes a part can just fail....yup..believe it, or not.
