Default Here's my storage ritual from today.

Been doing this for about 6 or 7 years now, seems to work pretty good.(slightly modified this year with the new bagger vs Dyna)
Remove bags, tour pak, seat and battery, these go in the basement with the battery on the tender all winter.
Next, I slip a nylon lifting strap around the frame or other strong point and using my engine hoist, lift the bike off the ground and set it on a wheeled platform that I welded up from square tubing. Some turnbuckles secured to the platform and passenger foot mounts stabilize the bike on the platform (probably not needed, though).
Then I cover the ends of the pipes and AC opening with tinfoil, securing with big rubber bands or very light duty bungee cords (the ones with plastic hooks so they don't scratch).
Finally, roll her in the corner and drape with a couple old bed sheets.
Then, start the countdown to spring!

Same here, with a bike jack though.
I like fresh oil in the engine that was brought uo to operating temp.
A few drops of 20/50 in each cylinder plug hole. Turn with ignion in the off position to splash it around and lastly fill tank up to the gills with high test (5gal) and add staibil.
Then cover.

Why not leave the battery in the bike and hook the tender directly to pigtail?

Why take the bags off?

I hook my battery right to the tender, leave bags on, wax it, stabil, oil down cylinders, cover it and good to go.

I would go through a storage ritual but it's going to be 80 here tomorrow and we're going on a ride.

I take the battery out because I'm always a bit leery of not noticing if the charger quits and the battery freezes and splits and leaking acid all over inside the bike. May be a pretty slim chance, but it's pretty easy to pull the battery and eliminate that risk.

I pull the bags & tour pack because I'm space limited in my shed, and I don't want to damage them trying to move around the bike in tight confines. Again, pretty easy to pull them and store them out of the way in the basement of the house. Same reason I put it on a platform vs on the jiffy stand = less space taken up.

I didn't have to go through my rituals this year. Did my SE cam tensioner upgrade, fixed a bottom gasket leak and some other stuff. So, SaukPraire HD is storing my bike for free. Hope she enjoys the heated area. Last year she had to suffer through-23F in an unheated storage unit
