Well I need everyone's prayers. My friend and I went riding today up Highway 18 toward Arrowhead & Crestline. Well it didn't go so well. She misjudged a turn and crossed into opposing traffic and was struck nearly head on.

She's pretty broken up and will need a few surgeries to put her back together. I'm still broken up about it and can't help but think about all the "what ifs".

She is a young Deputy and just finished her field training. Her first day patrolling solo would have been Tuesday.

I just want this to be over.

 

My thoughts and prayers are with her. None of us are perfect riders, we've all made mistakes, and it sounds like she had the misfortune to make one of those mistakes in the wrong place at the wrong time. I know exactly what you mean about the "what ifs," but unless you possess some kind of clairvoyance, the only way to prevent these things from happening is to just stay inside.

Sorry to hear about your friend. I hope she heals up fast and as good as new. You can't play woulda, coulda, shoulda. Wishing you both the best.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Evidently she's gone through her first round of surgery and did well.
I won't feel right until I can see and talk to her again. Maybe tomorrow.

 

The lady is very, very lucky. Prayers that her recovery goes smoothly, and she's on her feet quickly.
