Default The FXD

This is my first HD and im a bit lost when it comes to the prefixes. I don't see an engine designation anywhere on the engine and the gooseneck tag isn't any help either. I've got the anniversary model 03 FXD Super Glide and I have no literature on it either. Just what size engine is on this bike?

If it is stock it is an 88 cubic inch engine. Fxd generally means it is in the dyna line. I think the switchback is the only one not an fxd.

It's a good bike as is or a blank canvas to make it yours. Actually I've never seen two FXD that were the same. Find an owner's manual and also get a service manual for the care and feeding of your new ride.

Switchback is the only dyna without fx prefex. It is fld. It has the same front end as road king. So it got the fl (touring designation) not the fx like all other dynas

Based on cc, you have an 88 ci

You need to check the facts, front end is not the same.

Also FL= footboards

FX= footpegs.

Harley-Davidson introduced the FLD Dyna Switchback in 2012. It is the first Dyna-series motorcycle to use FL-style forks and be given the FL designation.

Has nothing to do with floorboards, it's the use of touring forks.

You can view the manuals on the HD website. Might have to be a HOG member, but maybe not. I had many good years on a Dyna. IMO, they have to have a stage 1 to include a good exhaust system. I had Vance and Hines Staggered big shots - awesome...

You can decipher your VIN # online as well.
