6.5 Boom Box: What I finally discovered!
There have been several threads in the past concerning Boom Box display elements that some had and others could not find.
I was one of those that swore up and down that there was no "speed" display while in "Navigation" mode. I just figured those that claimed to have it had an older firmware or something.
Anyway I'm here to report that mine does indeed have a "speed" display and other possibilities.
For those that are still in the dark [like I was] here is how to set it up:
Go into Nav mode by pressing the button outside the display [upper right "N"] or by selecting "Nav" from the home screen.
Press "Map" on the screen.
On the right side of the display there is an icon that looks like 3 dash marks stacked over each other. Press that.
Select "Appearance" from the available choices.
Scroll through the selections: enable "Left Data Field" and "Right Data Field" by pressing each one. That will put a check mark by them.
Now press "Exit" to go to the map screen.
You will now notice that the "Data Fields" are now active and will have "something" in them. Maybe you want that "something", maybe not. There are a whole bunch of things you can display in these boxes.
Press the "Data Field" you want to change. That will bring up a bunch of options for what you might want to display in that window. You can scroll through the options and "press" the one you want. Now it will appear in that window when you return to the Nav MAP screen.
I chose "Speed" in the left [MPH] and "Clock" in the right. YMMV Have fun!

I assume you are talking about the speedometer that we all have. The problem with it is that it can have considerable error.
The speed displayed in the Nav screen is based on GPS and will very close to your true speed.
Most of us don't really care how fast we are going to an accuracy of 0.5 mph. But it is interesting, to me at least, to see what the actual speedometer error is.

I've used my navigation system once, to find Fort Thunder Harley-Davidson in Moore, Ok. I too believe the speedometer is not displaying my actual speed. Think I may set the speed display just to find out. Thanks for the tip. Gary

...and by the time you're done fiddling around with that, the guy on the Panhead is ten miles down the road, and only has a vague idea of how fast he's going.
