Default Feuling Reaper 525 vs 574 cams for 103 street glide

OK my local HD parts dealer is suggesting the feuling reaper 574, I looks like it might have it all. Feuling says it come on at 2000 and just keeps pulling hard all the way up. The 525 looks good to but I worry it would run hot with only 9 degrees of overlap. What do you guys think?

I think the 574 really needs extra compression to run well, otherwise I don't think you are going to enjoy the power below about 3000 rpms. 524 looks better for a bolt in but I think there are better choices. No bolt in cam is going to work great from 2000 rpm to redline, you will need to decide what area of rpms you want the cam to shine at and then pick the right cam. Now if you add compression things get a lot better and the rpm range that cam shines in, expands.

What is your parts guy smoking? You've got a big heavy bike. Andrews 48 would be good choice with the least compromises. The most important part will still be the final tune or ya just puttin lipstick on a pig.

I have wondered the same thing about the 574 . on feelings web site they show some dyno charts and the 574 always had a small dip in the low end on the 103 motors as a bolt in. How would the reaper 525 stack up against the Andrews 48h?

There are a ton of happy Andrews 48 owners, I think they would serve you better through all the rpms. The 48s hit particular well in the lower to mid rpms, if you want a cam that hits a bit later then the Andrews 57 would be a great choice.

Would the 48h do better than the se 255 in a 103?

I talked to Bob Wood over at Woods cams and he recommended the new 222 cam for my bike 2013 limited I was all set to go with the woods 5-6 or the GMR Genesis 577 cam but now I am ordering the TW-222 instead maybe you can call Bob and talk to him and tell him what bike you have and what you are looking for and he can then suggest what cam would be right for you, he is a really nice guy and loves to talk bikes.

The 255s and 48s are simular cams. Biggest difference is the overlap with the Andrews having quite a bit more. Also the Andrews has slightly longer durations. Both of these spec differences indicate that the Andrews should do better in the higher rpms and The SE in the lower rpms. Both cams are focused in the lower rpm range but the 255s, more so.

I almost bought the woods tw 222 then went to the Andrews 57h now I'm looking at the 48. To many choices. I would really like to hear how ur cam change turns out.
