Default speed/gear/rpm question

My flhtc is sick at under 2500 rpm. I run 50mph for miles ,4th gear 2500 rpm. also 40 mph 3rd gear 2500 rpm. Is this normal or am I stressing the hogs heart... Thank you

2007 and 2008 tourers have crappy gearing 2.79 final . I'd do a 30t(or 31t) on the trans pulley or 68t rear pulley or both.

No, a 68t rear pulley will work with your stk 32 trans pulley and stk belt. I have been told the 30x68 will work with the stock belt as well. I am using 32x68 on my 08 and the axle is all the way forward but it works. I know the 31x68 will work with the stk belt and I do believe those that state the 30x68 will utilize the stock belt on the 07-08 bikes. There are tons of threads on here about gearing changes on the 07-08 bikes because the stock 32x66 gearing sucks, thats why hd went to the 32x68 on the 09 and up touring bikes.

I am sure by now you'd know if it didn't feel right at 2500rpm. I have an 07 and (stage1) and sometimes it sings at 2500. With in reason a little extra rpm is better for an 07 than not enough twin cams don't mind rpm its not a shovel.

For a while there I was a gear changing fool ,till I kept the rpms up there. I can't afford motor repairs, or am I just nervous. The shovel engine kept me in the poor house...
