Default Simpson Street or M30 Bandit (Full Face Helmet)

I'm considering getting one of these helmets. It was 37 degrees last Saturday when I rode down the mountain, and my ears bothered me more than anything else. I'm sure a full face helmet would help a lot. So if you have either of these, I'm curious as to your opinions regarding comfort, venting, fogging, etc.

Thanks for any opinions.

If the main reason is keeping warm, the model 30 will let a lot of air through the chin vents, back in the day racers that had those put duct tape on in the spring and fall. Cool helmet though - came to be known as Darth Vader hemets for obvious reasons - I wanted one back then but couldn't afford it then they were pulled from the market due for cracks in the vents and I think some were injured wearing them........for some reason they are back on the market 30some years later. Might have to get one this time around.

Look for a helmet that has a Pinlock visor if you do not want fogging.

Thanks for the input guys. That video was really helpful as well. I'm going to have to find out if these helmets are pinlock equipped.

Haven't bought either quite yet. Still spending money on the go-fast parts. But let us know how you like the M30.

I like that the Street Bandit has the open/close vents above the visor, something the M30 and Outlaw Bandit do not...and it's $100 bucks cheaper.

I don't have current experience with either one, but have been wearing FF for years. I'd pay close attention to the venting. I always prefer a lot of it, and I make sure that I can open or close it depending on the temperature, fogging, etc. Also try to find a place where you can try them both on...nothing worse than a cool looking helmet that doesn't fit right. My first race helmet was a Simpson...good products...

I have the Street Bandit and love it! I use it in colder weather and on days when rain is forecast. It does have a pin-lock shield. I run with the shield resting on top of the pin on warm wet days, to keep from fogging. In cold weather, you will need to flip it up at red lights or it will fog. It can also fog in the open position when cold, if you don't breathe slowly or blow your breath down. It is very comfortable and light, for a full face.
