Default Road King backrest screws stuck

Hello I just purchased a road King backrest pad online. The top and the left bottom screw on the bracket turn but do not unscrew. I have applied pressure up from the bottom while trying to unscrew and they still will not loosen. I am looking for any insight possible. Thanks

I had to use some WD-40 and apply pressure to the back rest while turning the screws. Try turning them in and out to get them going. The little straw that comes with the can of WD helps to keep the spray where you want it.

EDIT: Welcome to the forum!

Thanks, and I have tried everything I can think of WD was my first choice and still nothing. Can't get them to screw in or out. Don't want to rip apart a perfectly good backrest because of this problem.

[QUOTE=johnjay80;13487567]Thanks, and I have tried everything I can think of WD was my first choice and still nothing. Can't get them to screw in or out. Don't want to rip apart a perfectly good backrest because of this problem. What is happening is the screws turn but they do not screw in or unscrew. They just keep turning and turning.

I figured it out. Turns out the plastic support in the back of the backrest is cracked and the nuts inside the housing are spinning when I turn the screws. Sprayed with WD so here's to hoping they will come right out after a little soak. Thanks everyone.

If that does not work you can try wedging a bondo scraper between the backrest and bar to "hold" the captive nut as the screw is un-wound.
Add more wedges as it loosens.
