HD No Longer Servicing Bikes Older than 1996
This is what my local dealer told me.
I ride a '87 Harley Lowrider Custom... seriously this lowers the value of the HD brand in my opinion.
I do my own servicing for the most part, minus mounting tires. So now I'm going to have to go elsewhere to even get this done. They won't even change my tires anymore.
Seriously.

Maybe because it is not computerized and telling the tech what to do, or, because your bike isn't made in China (just a joke). I don't know, I could be wrong and probably are, I just got one. Thanks for the info, I was going to bring mine there for total svc/ oil/tune up since I just bought it but looks like I'll have to find a local shop.
P.S. Between this forum and the repair manual-we can get by.

Consider it a blessing. Most techs nowadays wouldn't know what to do with it.
Besides...it's been out there long enough now that there are much better components for it in the aftermarket than the original OEM junk they would replace it with.

I have an Indy work on my bike and they are old school so they can work on anything that comes into their shop, so whatever HD decides to do, it really doesn't matter to me.

The local dealer here stopped doing anything on Evos in 2001. They've been in a kind of limbo for some time now. There's shops that work on shovels and earlier bikes and those that work on TC's. But none that will work on an Evo.
If you want something done on your Evo you have to do it yourself.....which is fine with me.

In the early 70s, I was looking for a ratchet top from my 51 panhead transmission and was told it was "obsolete" and they didn't have one. But I got one and it fit and worked perfectly. It's just a way for customers to "upgrade" and buy new stuff.

Thanks for the feedback!
I don't mind working on it myself, and to be honest outside of tires I have been using a local shop.
in my opinion this still lowers the value of the H-D brand. After 10 years your basically ex-communicated from the pack because you refuse to shovel out more money for a new Hog.
My buddy has a 1979 Honda Gold Wing, and the Honda dealer still services it... my father in law has a 1982 Triumph and they still service it. Hell I have a 1975 Dodge Ram and Dodge still works on it.
But not Harley... sorry but it really gets my goat. Thanks for listening to me bitch and moan.
