Default Sylvania Silverstar lamp

So I purchased a Sylvania Silverstar sealed beam lamp. I was looking for something brighter on the cheap. Thanks to glide2005 for this info! It's not the greatest light but @ $24 bucks it is brighter than HD stock.

My original light is hazy/foggy on the inside glass, or I would have just purchased the bulb. So I decided to go with a new lamp that's brighter and has a whiter output, so I read. I don't do a whole lot of night riding but on occasion I'll go for a spin. It definitely is brighter, nothing to brag about. But happy with it.

One day I'll purchase a "real light", Led daymaker or jw speaker. On a side note I do have some HID kits I ordered, tried one and I liked how bright it was but not happy with the way it reflected off my oem lamp. Need suggestions for an aftermarket reflector lamp that's better for HID!

Yeah I too bought a silver star bulb. Def works great but now that I do longer after dark rides, I'm getting an LED Daymaker. Tired researching others but it will just be a waste of money. I'd just save up for the real deal. I didn't do it for a long time cause I rarely rode at night. This is all about safety for me I guess - well worth the $300 for the lamp......better than a crazy hospital bill.

The Silver Star has a short life, so carry the bulb you removed as a spare.

Running an Osram Nightbreaker in an Adjure reflector. A lot brighter than stock, but not a Led or HID.
Just ordered a LED conversion bulb from Chromeglow, I will report back on the results.

Why didn't you just clean the inside of the lens? Mine had a white cloudy haze when I got the bike, took it apart, soaked it in water and white vinegar. Swirled a cleaning rag around inside with a wooden spoon handle. It is still clear. I would like to upgrade to LED myself but in the meantime I'll keep the stock one clean.

Remove the blub and wash the reflector assy with alcohol or soap and water to remove the haze.

The silverstar is only rated for 50 hours on highbeam. When it dies in less than a year, Sylvania will replace it for free under warranty.

If you're using SilverStar, make sure it's the ST. It's for high vibration. But then again:

No such thing as a cheap brighter lighter light , you can drop the 55/65 bulb and find a 55/100 online somewhere but the life tends to be short carry a spare if your out at night a lot .
