Default Tire help please?

I have done my due diligence and research on tires because I will need new ones when I pull the old girl out of storage in the spring.

I have a 2004 Sportster 883c and this will be my last year with it. The wife has given me the green light for a new Road Glide, January 2016.

My current tires are dry rotted and worn and I don't think I'll get another 5,000 miles out of them so I need new. My 2 part question is...

Where do you guys buy your tires? (Online, dealer, Indy)

And since I'm only keeping it another year, should I spend less money on a lesser tire or spend more money on a set of Metzeler ME880's? And what would you recommend?

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

Here is my .02 cents. Since you're still going to ride it, buy the tires you would normally buy. If you're normally a ME880 kind of guy & you buy cheap tires you won't feel comfortable riding it.

Put good tires on it. They'll ride better & last longer. The latter will help you when you go to sell it.

I would stick with the Metz that you are use to. Having good new tires will be a selling point. Check with your local Indy shops. Some have good deals on tires and if you buy through them they will include mount and balance. You can of course buy them online but figure about $40 per wheel to mount and balance not including removal of the wheel.

I just paid $291.87 for a set of Metz 888's from Motorcycle Superstores, so if I can have them mounted & balanced for around $30 each feel okay with my deal..

I run Mich commander 2 on my ultra. Got them at Motorcycle Super Store. To the wheels off myself and took the to a small private shop and got them changed for $45.00.
Go with a good tire whatever you buy. Think I ended up spending around $250.oo total

Rocky Mountain(Jake Wilson) or Dennis Kirk are almost always have the best prices on tires. Order on line(no tax) and have the Indy or dealer install them. I buy the tubes from the installer in case of a tube failure it goes back on the installer. I would stay with the stock Harley Davidson Dunlops.

I buy tires from an indi. Tires and oil are what puts food on their table. They're usually not much more than online and always cheaper than the dealer.
