Default HD plant tours

Has anyone been to the York PA plant? Is there anything else in the area to see or do?? We have been to Milwaukee plant and stayed at the Iron Horse (which is worth the trip in itself). They also have the museum, brewery tours, all sorts of bars with in walking distance, the lake shore. You could almost spent a week there. Is there anything like that in the York area? or just the plant.

Thanks!

I did the York plant tour last year and it was pretty cool BUT don't go on a Friday. While you can tour it on Fridays the workers aren't there. Their work schedule is Monday-Thursday. I made that mistake.

go to the Harley store in the area. They have a good collection of older bikes to look at.

The plant tour is very nice. I don't know about museums, bars or that kind of stuff, but the Amish country in the area is beautiful.

The plant tour is cool. I have been on the free on. You need to get there for 9 am because they sell out. I took the steel toe tour this year and I think it was worth the 30 bucks. Like Grandslam said the Amish country there is nice. Lancaster is about 20 miles away. They have a bunch of cool stuff there. I like the steam train and museum they have there.

I visited the York Plant this past October. It's an interesting tour, but pretty much what you would expect. Other than painting and manufacturing the tins and frames on site, York is pretty much just assembly. Everything else is shipped in from other facilities to York and put together there.

In October I rode from Philly to State College and then rode around Central Pennsylvania the next few days. Saw where the Little League WS is played, Cabelas, Hershey, the Yuengling factory, the York plant, the Railroad museum and rode through Lancaster. It really is beautiful countryside and wonderful riding.

Don't know when you're considering taking the York Tour (probably warm weather). Just to let you know the line will not be running until Jan.5th. From that date until the 2nd or 3rd week in May Harley will be running what they call surge. When they do that they run 7 days a week and I'm pretty sure you can tour on Fridays but I would call and check first. As far as things to do others before and aft will have some good suggestions.
