Default Boot care

Got a pair of HD boots for Christmas.
Is Neatsfoot oil still a good go-to product for leather boot care?
Other suggestions?

Dude, "Leather Care" is the key phrase.
There is no miracle rub it on everything is golden leather product out there.
You either care for leather with what you have,, or you don't.
Yes, Neatsfoot Oil will be fine. If you find one of the brands and purity you like.
There's a gazilion thing out there to "care" for leather,, pick one and start "caring".

At least now you can go out with your boots on.

Don't get your "neated" boots too close to a fire, they may catch fire.
I treated some leather mittens with the neats and those mittens were moist for weeks.
Took the mitts camping, use them to turn logs in the fire and for 100 other things. Had them sitting on the rocks of the fire pit, and they caught fire! Wrecked them. I had used the mitts many times in the same fashion and this time they caught fire, after the neats.
I like sno-seal a lot and shoe polish for boots.

Been wearing cowboy boots for 40+ years.

Very important is to make sure u keep the dust off of them. <-- That was pounded into me by Mercedes Boot Company in Ft. Worth TX.

Mercedes boot company gave me a special solution they use and I apply it every 6 months. My boots get a great deal of son (here in southern Florida) and are rained on quite often. They are in excellent shape.

You may want to contact JL Mercer boots http://www.jlmercerboots.com (325) 658-7634 and see what they say. THEY will be making my next pair of boots.

JL Mercer made boots for Lyndon Baines Johnson, Toby Keith, Charlie Daniels, Billy Ray Cyrus, etc. so I suspect they truly know how to keep the leather in tip top shape.

G'day Mate,

My older brother had a friend that owned a Redwing store and he recommended Mink oil. I've been using it for 40 years now and have always been happy with it.

Red Wing Boot Oil is great stuff. I use it on my Red Wing Engineers and my Chippewa Harness boots. For boots with shiny leather (Doc Marten's) and my leather jackets, I use Doc Marten's Wonder Balm.
