HD Ride Planner

Do you need a HOG membership to use Harley's Ride Planner or is my use limited because I am in Canada?
If so is the HOG membership worth it to get full use of the planner? It does look like it has some good features showing details along a route.
I have an account created on HD's web site and can also create trips with the planner. However when I try to log into the link in the Ride Planner I go nowhere. I even tried creating a new account directly on the Ride Planner site but was notified there was already an account created. Yet I can not sign in.
I see the iOS version HD Trip Planner app is only available in the US. I thought I would be able to just save my route and log in through the web site in my iPad but I can't even log in using a computer.
Or how about a recommendation for other iPhone/iPad apps that will also plan a trip recommending good motorcycle roads and other attractions along the route.
Another option I guess I'll have to see what the Butler Motorcycle Maps app will be like. Their paper maps look pretty good.
Edit: RidingSocial looks pretty good from Butler too.

I was trying to use it this afternoon and coming up with the same problem. Sometimes that rideplanner is a real pain in the A$$. I tried to log in and it would ask me to log in again. And I'm a HOG member.

We recommended it to one of our local Indian/Victory dealerships and they're using it for their Owner Group rides.

OK it's not just me, it's normal behaviour for the planner, thanks for the input.
I'll be playing around with RidingSocial more since they do have an iOS app available in Canada.
Normally I just point the bike in the general direction I want to go with little planning. I still prefer not to follow a schedule. Tools like these look like they can help me decide what I am doing along the way.
Edit: Of course I tried it today and it logs me in without an issue. :/

On my iPad, I use InRoute. It has waypoints, miles and time and has 2-3 ways to get to your destination. I use it on every ride, long or short.
As for motorcycle roads, there several websites for that. We just Googled that and our state.
