Default Loose riser

Just got my bike back from the shop. I had new mini apes installed. Now it feels like the riser is loose when I sit on the bike and push pull the bars. I put a socket on the two nuts under the riser and they would not budge. My question is, are there any bolts inside the riser cover that could be loose?

2003 1200 custom

Thanks in advance....

Did you swap out to poly bushings? It sounds like you have the stock rubber bushings in there still. They will have a lot more flex in them.

rubber bushings + bars that have more leverage= you see/ feel / can make more movement.

What he said. More leverage with apes. One of the reasons I don't like 'em--always afraid a sudden stop will shove them forward, causing me to lose control with death or serious injury. Not to mention ever having to push the bike.

Push a Harley?

But what everyone said...rubber bushings. Wait until summer when they warm up.

Whenever you change anything from stock, you need to consider how the change will affect the other parts. Cables, wires, bushings...it's not about just changing bars.

No, I didnt. Still got the stock rubber ones on. I'm guessing this is something I'm gonna have to,live with?? Will poly bushing solve the problem or just make it less noticeable.

Poly will help significantly. You will still have minimal flexing though. You can get solid aluminum riser bushing from a couple different manufacturers but that's a little overkill IMHO.

Remove top riser plate, smear red loctite around the bars where they contact the risers, re-install top riser plate. Let sit overnight. Your bars will never move again.
