Default I guess I'll be a dorm rat at Sturgis this year.

I just booked a dorm room at Blackhills Community College in Spearfish for the rally this year. It cost $400 (split between two) for 2 beds.

Some of my riding partners insisted on going a little more high brow and will be staying at the Spearfish Holiday Inn for the 3 days. The Holiday Inn is $1300 (split between two) for the same days.

I figured $450 would go a good ways towards the other parts of the trip or some shiny motorcycle parts.

Can anyone tell me what their experiences has been if you stayed at the community college? My college days were a long time ago!

-Live it up!

I'm lucky. I have family in Spearfish and Belle. I get to stay for gratis. I haven’t been there in 15 years though. Probably won't return any time soon.

Been there for the last five years. We will have to have a beer in the lot. (no drinking in the dorms)
Make sure to walk across the campus to the cafeteria for breakfast in the morning ($7 buffet) open to everyone by the way.

It's clean, quiet and reasonable. just 17 miles to Sturgis and minuets from Spearfish canyon entrance.

Oh buy the way there is no AC in the rooms. but it has never been a problem.

At those prices, I'd throw a sleeping bag on the ground.

You should ask to stay in the female dorm.

Not being physically able to ride that far and now, it's expensive, keeps me from going there...among a few other reasons.

I stayed at Lampshere for 20 bucks a night. 2 minutes out of Sturgis right across from the Full Throttle.

I'll be at the college also, don't know which dorm yet. The one I asked for was sold out, but I talked with them yesterday and they assured me I would get a room in another dorm. Gotta be better than Lackland in 1966, the last time I stayed in a dorm. Going the week before and into the first 1-2 official days of the event. That way I can see some of the sights and avoid a bit of the crowd and the vendors will be set up to take my $$$.
