Default Did You Get Your Money's Worth?

I bought a really nice quality heavy leather HD winter jacket. Abt $415 - 10% sale price. (Excellent jacket....I LOVE IT!)

Wore it for the 1st time, ONCE in the cold with a friend and he asked me....

"Did you get your money's worth?"

I said, "No. I only wore it once."

He started arguing with me that the jacket did its job so it paid for itself.

I said, if it was stolen and I only wore it once, do I feel I got my money's worth out of it? Of course not. I would have to wear it a hell of a lot more to get my moneys worth out of it.

What do you guys think? Do u get your money's worth out of a jacket for wearing it once and it did it's job really well?

For that kind of money, I would say it needs to do well by me for years before I would claim I got my money's worth out of it. Or do I owe him an apology?

Side Note:When I inserted the image, it came out HUGE in this post. Any way for it to have been sized down? A lot?

You'll only know if you got your money's worth when you don't have it anymore.

if you love it, why have you only wore it once?

i think the answer lies somewhere in the middle. obviously, if you wore it once and then bought a new one for the next ride, wore it once, then bought a new one...... and so on, i would say that you didn't get your moneys worth.

now if you wore it once, and got in a wreck, and it saved your bacon, then that would be your money's worth. or if you've worn it every winter for 20 years.

coincidentally, thats why i haven't bought a leather hd jacket in quite some time. i bought one a long time ago that i really liked (got it on clearance too ), but the damn thing shrank and doesn't fit any more. i don't want to spend that much money again, so i've got a hd textile jacket. keeps me warm, can layer under it if necessary, hope to not find out how abrasion resistant it is, and doesn't break the bank if it shrinks and has to be replaced.....

I just bought a brand new leather jacket.

Heavy, full sleeve zip-out quilted lining. CE spec shoulder and elbow armor. Six zipper vents for warm weather; on the biceps, front chest, and back. Inside and outside pockets. I've already worn it a dozen times.

On my front porch, three days after I ordered it, $110. Total.

Mine came from local Indy shop.... less than $100.... 6-7 years old. Still in great shape, does what I want, and yes, I got my money's worth.
But I do have a question.... have not worn this in weather that I think would make it shrink. What kind of treatment do I need to use to keep it from shrinking? I do have a textile jacket that is warm, dry, and I can layer under....so sometimes I do not wear the leather in the rain. Any suggestions for treatment???

Have about the same HD jacket. Super heavy but I lost weight and cant wear it riding anymore. Need to have it resized. While it was super pricy I do like it. Dont thing its paid for itself yet.
