Default Trailer or truck bed

Moving from WA to CA and wondering if I am better off putting my Dyna in the bed of the truck, Dodge Ram or in the back of a 6 by 12 uhaul trailer?
As well I have my toolbox that will go in the trailer. Trying to travel as light as possible. Any suggestions appreciated. TIA

If you can load and unload - I'd put it in the truck. I wouldn't trust the trailer if other items are in there.

Before you think about getting a bike in the bed of a truck, you might want to search for videos of folks doing it. It can end very badly. Also, I used to work as a mechanic at a Dodge dealership...I would not trust the tailgate with my bike(BTW, I still drive a Ram truck, so I am not just hating on them). I know many folks have done it successfully, but I am trailer all the way.

Well there you go. Two opposite opinions at almost the same time. LOL. Good luck with whichever method you choose.

If you can load it like this then I recommend the truck bed.

Jack Field parks his bike in the back of a pickup in Backflip - YouTube

One of our favorite things to do when I raced was sitting back after the races and watching the newby's load up. Never a dull moment.

My thinking is the trailer, easier load and unload, I have seen the loading videos and do not wanna be that guy. Nice thing about the trailers is they have the tie down points and I have plenty of ratchet straps to secure the bike and toolbox, besides I will check them periodically on the drive.
I like my Ram, the only complaint I have is the paint sucks.

if you have a 4 wheeler/snowmobile ramp for pickup. measure where ur rear wheel will sit. if it is on tailgate, rip a sheet of 3/4 plywood so rear wheel sits on plywood. one can then, on same sheet, make ur wheel chock. or buy, if u prefer. find a approach, freeway on-ramp, ditch adjacent to driveway to load bike. one can make it so ramp is somewhat level. strap down as u see fit. I have loaded dead bikes this way. lotsa places in Sturgis area to unload.

I say trailer. It's much easier to load and upload, and less of a hassle. Will the toolbox fit in the bed of the truck?

My vote is also for the trailer. One, loading and unloading in the truck is more risky. Two, the bike is protected from weather and road debris in the trailer. Also, when you stop overnight, no one knows what is in the trailer.
