Default How do you prevent your Daymaker or other LED from being stolen.

I am about to upgrade to an LED and as we all know they are pricey ($165 to $525). I know install is quite easy, almost too easy (besides the aiming part). So, what's to stop a thief from taking your very pricey upgrade. I would think a thief can steal an LED in under a minute. Does anyone know of a way to secure it? Has anyone had one stolen before?

You could replace the usual Phillips head screws with Torx ones. Kinda doubt the usual idiot thief won't be carrying a set of those bits.

Nothing on your bike is totally safe, not even the bike itself. A thief can steal the bike in under a minute. Why go for the headlight only? My headlight is as safe as my front tire, my mirrors, my battery, my air cleaner, my seat, my engine guard or the whole bike itself for that matter. There are low lives everywhere that will take anything just because they can.

There's no preventing any theft, only deterring. I have a security system and insurance. If the security system isn't a good deterrent, the insurance will replace it; including the bike.

You must go to some very questionable areas.

I like that idea. Simple and inexpensive.

Just make sure you toss a small set of Torx bits in your tool bag, just in case.

Speaking of inexpensive, I rely a lot on my Gorilla Alarm. Touch the bike and everybody around knows about it. Works great, and I haven't seen a gorilla near my place yet.

The torx gimmick sounds good and going to better parts of town does too. But I've never heard of anyone getting their stolen...not that it's never happened.

I use to think my LED r/s/t signals would be really easy to steal...just popping the lens and taking them. But I forgot about it. Maybe you could do that too. If it's going happen, it'll happen.

It'll never happen. Thieves will take the whole bike before taking just the headlight.
If you are worried, put a "support your local red and white" sticker on your bike.
