Default wax

If you paste wax your bike. Is it ok to use spray on waxs like lucas makes on top of that? or should you just stay with the paste wax? I also find that using pledge works good. I got that from you guys on the forum. but my main question is it good or bad to use spray waxes over your paste waxes.

I've used Meguiars paste wax and a detailer spray many times with no problem. My only advice is to avoid products like Johnson paste wax. It's made for furniture, not paint.

Lots of folks use Pledge. I don't because there are purpose made automotive products that do a better job.

you sure can spray products over top of your paste wax. Don't forget, we have a great detailing section in the forum.

What would happen if you use Johnson paste wax on paint? Pledge is made for furniture as well, not paint and it works very well.

I use Pledge on occasion. It cleans the dirt off and leaves a shine behind comparable to any wax. What criteria are you using that would make an automotive product do a "better job"? It's clean and shines. Because a product is specifically marketed for use on automobiles doesn't necessarily make it better.

Products for furniture are not used directly on the wood. It's on the varnish or polyurethane finish. Same for automotive products. They are formulated to work on the clear coat finish, not the paint itself. I'm sure car waxes would shine furniture quite well without harming the finish just like furniture products (eg Pledge) work fine on vehicles paint.

All wax will make water run off. That isn't a special property of Lucas Slick Mist.

Wax is like your choice of motor oil. Everyone has opinions, use what you like, it's all good.
