I'm stuck.

I'm stuck.
So a little back round. I bought my sportster 883 superlow back in September. Since I am in the Marine Corps I have to go through an advanced riders course which was needed to be completed in dec/jan. Due to work obligations and life in general I have not been able to go to said course. I have not rode my bike since January. The wife wants me to sell it being I don't ride it and would free up that money for other "important" things. I am kind of with her on it to be honest but just can't part with it as I like riding it even though I am still in the learning phase of riding. I am signed up to take the next course on Wednesday. Honestly I just don't know what to do. Any advice from anyone that has been in this situation?

Take the course, if money is really tight make the choice after. My bike is my main form of transportation after the snow leaves but I consider it a want and if money was tight the wants go first!

(2) Do Not let the wife to get the upper hand on you or you will be
miserable from now on! I have been married for almost 35 years because
I still wear the pants in this family.

Take the course and keep the bike. Not being able to ride for one month due to not meeting the military requirement doesn't mean you don't ride it. It means you want to but can't. I haven't ridden either of mine since November due to mandated riding seasons.

Sell the bike and use the money for something that benefits both you and your Wife.
The fact that you are on the fence as to what to do tells me you don't have the passion it takes for a young Marine to make the financial sacrifice needed to own a Harley.
Your Wife needs to be equally on board or it's not worth it.
If she's not, you will not enjoy it as much as you should.
Now, if you need the bike for transportation that might change things but a $1200 Honda will get you to work and back just as fast as $7000 Sportster.
As you grow in rank and start making more money you'll have an opportunity to have non-necessary things like a Harley.
