Thunderheader screeching noise?
Hello,
I am new to this forumn and this is my first post so I apologize if it is in the wrong area. I just installed a 2-1 thunderheader on my 07 street glide. Had minor complications with the exhaust gaskets, but other than that it went smoothly. I've started the bike several times since installing the TH, but today I decided to put it in gear and move it outside. Once I put it in gear I started to hear a loud screeching noise. It sounded like it was coming from the exhaust port but I couldn't tell. I'm a little paranoid now considering I installed the exhaust myself so I am hoping I didn't damage anything. any ideas what it could be?

Possibly, but it only activated when I put the bike in gear for the first time after installation. I feel like if it was rubbing against something you would be able to hear it at idle.

Have someone else put it in gear and you walk around the bike and see if you can find the area its coming from. Did it make that noise before pipe install?

Not necessarily. Vibrations can be funny. Just by chance, were you holding in the front brake lever when you put it in gear? That'll usually increase the felt vibrations as the front wheel can't move and absorb some of them. Things also tend to tighten up a bit when you put it in gear. Drive belts and chains, etc.

I'm not familiar with the install on a glide, were there some bolts removed on the clutch side? Someone posted these instructions
any chance longer bolts were used in step 4?

Good idea. My guess would be a heat shield or another situation where one piece of metal is rubbing against another.
