Cold weather and Redline VTwin with shockproof
Any opinions on how Redline trans w/shockproof does in cold weather? Seems to be mostly good reviews, but also some stating not to good in colder weather. How cold is to cold to consider something else? Thanks

I put it in my gearbox after the initial oil change, seems to be ok in the cool weather, however you will likely get a different answer from everyone you ask as there are so many different lubes available that are also just fine to use.

Gear Oil
I don't use Redline Oil but I do use Spectro 75W140 gear oil in the trans. I have ridden in 14°, this winter, and everything was fine. It was almost easier to find neutral in the cold.

When cold it's supposed to flow like 75w gear oil, which is about the same viscosity as 20w motor oil... which is just fine!

I've used Redline tranny fluid w/shockproof for about 5 years now with no issues in all kind of temps. Don't sweat it though. Get any good quality transmission fluid and see how it feels for you. If you don't like it, just swap it out for another brand. You're not going to hurt anything.

Redline Shockproof Transmission fluid is very thick in cold weather, which only means warm it up before draining it and keep the new bottle warm before pouring it in if you're changing it in a freezing cold garage. As for performance its the best I've used in all temperatures.
If you haven't used it, be aware you might catch the smell of it once in awhile coming from the transmission when the bike is hot- especially when the fluid is fresh. Nothing to worry about.
