Default Oil Change Tip

Yes it's winter here so it's something many here have heard a million times but...

Oil Change Tip-forumrunner_20150303_192103.jpg

That thin cardboard piece that they put in as a divider in a 30 pack of beer and an awl punched through the filter keep the mess a little more managable.

Not sure what I am looking at? Looks like the deflector off a little boy's potty chair.

Ahh hell maybe I should of taken the picture when there was still some beer left.
I crease the cardboard, slide it under the filter, line up a catch bin at the end, then punch a hole in the filter as low as possible with a scratch awl then ream it with a big philips head. It drains 90% of that damn filter oil out before you unscrew it.
I drink whatever I have laying around and like it- light, heavy, whatever, 'specially when there's another damn ice storm raging outdoors.

I just remove the filter while the bike is sitting on the jiffy stand. A little practice and it comes off with almost no leakage at all. Maybe a paper towel or two under the filter when removing it is all that is needed.

1. Loosen the filter.
2. Stick a 1 gallon ziplock bag over it.
3. Finish unscrewing the filter.
4. ???
5. Profit.
