Default Virus attached to searches on SEPST

Just today - 3/3/15, I was researching ( or trying to) when I clicked on a link from our forum that went thru Google. Thru that link I ended up with what's called ransom-ware. A very nasty worm or whatever. It'll lock up your computer tighter then ..... (enter your finest cliché). Anyhow, I was lucky to have a good anti-virus program. So beware of good looking info on HD Tuners !

First time doing internet searches?

Lots of bad stuff out there when doing Google searches.
Probably more unsafe links out there, than safe ones.

Searcher beware.

Here come the posts that say PowerVision or Thundermax searches won't give you a virus.

I hate that one. Check this link (or look it up) and clear your Adobe Flash cache,, it's a place many viruses go through because it's a needed little thing for smoother running of the browser,
Don't worry you won't "loose" anything and ya might be suprised what ya find there.

That's why I use the IPad. Canceled the Norton on the laptop and only use it to plug up the PV and my Sena headset, and that's not very often.

There are viruses attached to everything out there on the Internet - While at work one day last year I was looking up the minimum size requirements for an elevator that my Client wanted to install in one of his office building - and there was a virus attached to one of the links - Thanks to my IT guy for building my office system and putting in proper protection...

Google cryptolocker and cryptowall. Just last week I was in a state government associated office that had 2 of the 3 computers (not including the server) infected. It encrypts your files with an algorithm that can only be un-encrypted with a key from the people that create the virus. They charge $500 per key and there's no guarantee that they'll actually send it to you. The only way to recover the files without getting the key is a reliable backup.

Well I was in this office on 2/18 and their last backup was a couple of days after the first of feb. Needless to say, they lost some files.
