Man this was a learning experience!!! First off we didn't hit each other . I have had a number of people turn left in front of me on my bike and I never could figure out how the **** they didn't see me. I was in my car on a three lane highway with left turn lanes. There was a line of cars waiting to turn left in the opposing lane blocking view. I waited for traffic to clear then crept out looking for bikes, like I always do. I didn't see one so I went. Just as I did a sport bike appeared in the fast lane close to the inside of lane close to the left turn traffic. My view of him was blocked by the long line of traffic, mostly pickup trucks. I floored it and we missed by feet. Had I froze or he swerved right then BAM. I am guilty of riding in the fast lane just like that, not any more. I move to the middle lane approaching intersections now.
People turn left even though they see the motorcycle. Problem is, the bike is going 75 in a 45 MPH zone. That is a major cause of these types of crashes. People need to slow the hell down in urban areas. Older folks and mental defective people can't judge the MC speed.
I had a guy left turn in front of me the other day ,and i was in the cage! I braked hard and he throttled out , crap happens. Gotta be careful out there!
With traffic like that, even on a one lane each way road, I stay more to the right of my lane, so anyone thinking of passing the car in front of them can see me, if they start to pass.
