too much money for a little gas can unless you run out of fuel then it's priceless.
I have considered getting one of these but the $30 price tag is holding me back

So what are you thinking of using instead?

I've got 2. Put a couple 1,000 miles on them in the trunk of my TriGlide. Solid, and never leaked. Didn't need them, but was good insurance.
IMHO, the quality vs. other options is worth the price. BtW, the angled design is specifically for side bags, but still worked fine in my trunk.

I use 4, 1 liter MSR style bottles.
reserve gives me 20 miles and the bottles stretch that an additional 35 miles.
I've never misjudged the fuel range on a tank of fuel by more than 55 miles yet...

I am not thinging of using anything.
I generally plan my long trips out to include where I'm going to fuel up at.
Only once have I "almost" ran out of fuel.
That being said an extra 20-30 miles in the bags would probably be good insurance.

I've been using a Reda can on longer trips for a few years. The only problem is my cop bike hardbag lid needs to be cushioned with a piece of 1/4" hard foam rubber to stop the vibrations from wearing through the cap on the can. Other than that, it is great peace of mind knowing I have that gallon of fuel on board, especially when riding with a group of others that have 6 gallon tanks compared to my 5 gallon tank.
