Default New to me Iron question

Hello to all. New to the forum. Just picked up a 2012 883 iron with 14 thousand miles on her. When I got her she had Vance and Hines short shots and a Fuel Pack. Stock AC. The owner said she runs a little rich. I am going to put on a performance machine AC. Should I be ok or should I mess with the fuel pack. This is my first Harley. thanks for reading

Switching out the AC for a more free flowing one should lean it out a bit, if that's what you're wanting to do. I wouldn't mess with the tune just yet if you're wanting a better ac.

I wouldn't mind picking up a little HP, but don't want to run lean.

If it is running rich now, leaning it out a bit isn't gonna hurt it. Running too rich isn't much better than running lean.

I only have the opinion of the previous owner. You are right, I don't want to run rich either.

One thing to consider, I think it says on vance & hines website that their maps are figured based on you having a free flowing intake. So that might be why it seems to be running rich. So you can contact vance & hines and see if there are any settings you can tweak on the fuelpak to change the rich condition or you can put the free flowing intake on like you want.

Another thing to consider is, sometimes vance & hines updates their maps from time to time, so I would go to vance & hines website and look up the settings for your setup and compare them to what your fuelpak is currently set at. Your current settings on your fuelpak could be wrong or the previous owner could have put in the wrong settings.
