Default See Dealer cost site - is it legit?

Guess Im a little shocked to see the dealer cost of a 15 limited at 21K. I wonder how accurate that is? Anyone use this as a bargaining tool?

Pretty good mark up and then you have all the BS fees and tax. I got my 14 UC for $25,006 OTD,it was almost $30,000 for the Limited.

I don't know how accurate the link is, but bargain away. I have never met anybody that got very much off a new limited. I have heard of some good deals on maintenance thrown in and other goodies, but I've never successfully negotiated the price of a new harley down enough to brag about.

This is probably accurate as far as it goes. What is missing are the factory incentive programs that can significantly increase this apparent low margin.

Yes. One needs to look at the percentage, which for normal retail averages 40% of sale price. The margins here are only around 25%. Not enough for most retailers to survive on.

Go to a modern Harley dealership and look around. Pretty nice, huh? That's called overhead, and must be paid for, in addition to any commissions paid to the sales team.

And that is about 300% higher than your average car dealer or any other motorcycle manufacturer. You don't own any dealership to make money off of new unit sales. It comes from used and parts/service.

Here's the way I look at it - it costs me nothing to go to work and fly the jet, beyond gas money. Should I reduce my hourly rate?
