tool bag contents
Since my last scooter was metric and had a small tool bag in a hideaway compartment, I'm now putting together a SAE tool kit for my new ride. I'm pretty sure I've got what I need, but I was curious as to what you have in your on-board tool kit.
Monster saddle bags not considered, list nothing larger than my "Slime" mini air compressor.
Okay, what the heck; include whatever you can fit in your bags.

first, welcome to the forum.
second, get a service manual, and a parts manual. two of the best tools you can buy.
third, do a search here....there have been several threads on what should be in a tool kit.
I spent a long time going over the bike just looking at different things that may give problems. Hex bits for all controls on bars, 10mm wrench for battery, adjustable wrench for misc fasteners, 1/2 and 9/16 wrenches.... do a search and spend time on your bike looking.

Take what you know how to use in a motel parking lot, or in front of your tent or on the shoulder of the highway. if that is a credit card and phone, packing just got easier and lighter.
Rides less than 300-400 miles I don't carry any tools.
Over 300-400 miles and the tool list is extensive. If the bike needs fixing I will try to do it wherever it breaks down.
Not the full list:
tire plugs and plugging tools
full craftsman socket set
misc screwdrivers
full set of torx bit
full set of allen bits.
crescent wrenches
vice grips
led flashlights
wire ties
electrical tape
lineman pliers
tire guage
The socket set travels in its own case. Everything else goes in a cloth bag.

On a 09 Twinkie with fuel injection??? Nothing. Perhaps your cell phone and a CC as suggested above. I personally carry a 19-tool leatherman. Sometimes I have it with me, sometimes I forget, but I've never been stranded yet except for one problem that was rear-brake related and was my fault for the crap-job I did replacing the pads. In that case I was still able to make it to a dealer.
Now, my '90 Yammie SR500 I use to commute is a different story. I have needed a tool or two with that one on occasion (even tho I've had it less than a year) and I make sure I NEVER leave home without my Leatherman and a small crescent wrench when I ride that...
With EFI and all the dealers or shops around, and as long as your bike is properly maintained, I doubt you'll ever really ever need anything until that bike is either 20 years old or has around 120,000 on the clock, whichever comes first...
