Default How to prevent muffler corrosion

I recently purchase a new Slim and I have noticed that slight corrosion is developing in base of the exhaust exit on the inside. Is there something that I can do to manage this? Any suggestions would be awesome.

If you're talking about soot on the inside of the end cap or end of the muffler, just keep wiping it clean. There's not much else you can do about it. On my touring bike, the left muffler cap gets a tarnished look after a few hours of riding. I just keep wiping it clean every couple of days to keep it shiny. Even the dealer says they have no idea why the left one does it, and the right one doesn't.

If you're talking about the outsides of it, try to avoid anything that will damage the chrome, and keep it waxed.

Try cleaning it out then spray or brush on high temp Rustoleum. I did that to mine when new then touch up once a year. It's been fine ever since...

I hate to say this, but with stock pipes--they ALL do that!

I've seen 'em brand new on the showroom floor with that.

Exhaust gas has moisture and acids in it, and that doesn't help. Harley must figure that most people change at least the mufflers on a new bike, And decided to use the cheapest steel available to make something people are just gonna throw away.

Stop starting it up just to listen to it and ride it for more than 5 minutes.
