Default A few Harley questions I need help with.

Hello everyone!

My father is done riding his motorcycle and is giving it to me. I do not have much knowledge on these bikes. I am not even sure what model it is, hopefully someone here could help. I think it is in the dyna series but not sure.




My other question,i will need to find a heel toe shifter I have one on my goldwing and i am able to ride because of it. I can not lift up on the shifter. I am not sure what to look for or what models will fit it. I am on a small budget atm and would like to find a cheaper alternative than the 250 dollar ones i have seen.

would something like this work? The fitment is 1995 thru 2015 Dyna Police with Police Floorboards

It looks like a FXDL Dyna Low Rider to me. Harley has been making them since 1977 so I'm not sure the year. Why can't your Dad tell you about the bike? Do you know the VIN number?

VIN Numbers are 17 Characters long:
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.
1 HD 1 GN 4 1 7 B C 111000

1. - Market Designation: 1 = Manufactured in USA, 2 = Manufactured outside USA
2. - Manufacturer: HD = Harley-Davidson Motorcycle
3. - Motorcycle Type: 1 = Heavyweight Motorcycle
4. - Model: GN = FXDL Dyna Low Rider, GV = FXDC Dyna Super Glide Custom, GY = FXDF Dyna Fat Bob, GP = FXDWG Dyna Wide Glide, GX = FXDB Dyna Street Bob
5. - Engine Type: 4 = Twin Cam 96"
6. - Introduction Date/Calibration: 1 = Domestic, 3 = California, A = Canada
7. - VIN Check Digit: Can be 0-9 or X
8. - Model Year: B=2011
9. - Assembly Plant: C = Kansas City, MO USA
10. - Sequential Number: Varies

If the bike does not already have floorboards then the item you posted will not work. You will need to purchcase a Rider Floorboard Kit: http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...-footboard-kit

You may however use the shift lever with a peg. You may want to try that first before you spend money on adding floorboards.

That kit doesn't come with a heel /toe shifter. But the one in the picture with the floorboard might.,,,

The kit in my post comes with everything you need to add floorboards to the bike. You would use you existing shift lever or you could purchase a new heel/toe shift lever.

From the picture it looks like the shifter on the bike now is set really high like you have to jerk your whole leg up to shift it.

Move that shifter position down to a normal lever where you only have to use your toe without moving your leg....
Maybe your dad had size 16 shoes and that position worked fine but for the normal guy that is way off.

Hello and thank you for the reply and information Enodrano, My fathers job makes it very hard to get hold of him. He told me long time ago but couldn't remember. I just know he is bringing it next month and i was just trying to find parts for it so i could be ready and ride it sooner than later.

Thanks for the input big cahuna, the selling item in picture is just the heel toe and not the floorboards.

Hello Oldskewl, yeah it does look high i will see what i can do about that if i cant find a cheap heel toe somewhere, good eye.

That is a 04 or 05 FXD Dyna Super Glide. You can tell by the console and the natural aluminum engine.

Find any paper like the title, reg or insurance cards. They will give you the info.
