So, I don't know how in depth this has been hit yet but wanted to chime in...I, like many of you, have spent YEARS looking for a DOT helmet that doesn't make me look like an astronaut...I recently got the "SOA inspired flat black beanie" from bikerhelmets.com (aka Crazy Al's) and I have to say I am blown away by how much smaller it is than other half helmets...not to mention comfy, light, and equipped with a killer buckle system that is easy to use and reminds me of snowboard bindings...

Far and away the best helmet I have ever rode with, and not nearly half as goofy looking...been telling all my buddies, wanted to share with the forum too...

(btw I am in no way affiliated with the company lol!)

gonna check it out right now.
my buddy gave me a half shell helmet and i hate it. not as much as a full face deal but im not into it.
no helmet law here but im thinking about wearing one but i have to find one that is comf.
even this little half deal feels super heavy and catches a lot of wind.

thanks for the tip on where to look

The Skid Lid's are just another mushroom helmet. If you want a helmet that's DOT and as thin and lightweight as the Akoury helmets or the ones from bikerhelmets.com, you're gonna have to pony up and buy one of those two. The only thing smaller and cheaper is a novelty helmet.

I bought a flat black through them a couple weeks ago but I was really interested in the carbon one. The flat black came in and I was so impressed with it that I immediately ordered the carbon one as well. That came in yesterday and I must say, this thing is friggin light ! The ratcheting clasp is slick, reminds me of the schuberth I had. Size is spot on, really comfortable and it sits low.

I ordered one a month ago and I love it. From bikerhelmets.com . I showed a buddy of mine and he liked it and ordered one for himself. I bought my wife one and she loves how light and comfortable it is.

Skid Lid looks like a 49 Mercury on your head compared to the Crazy Al helmet.
