Hi everyone new to this forum, can you let me know if this is normal. When I turn the ignition on the oil light will stay on then turn off when I start the bike. I haven't noticed this before.

 

That's what mine does on a 2012 Ultra Classic TriGlide.

Thanks, I have a 2012 ultra limited and for some reason never noticed it before. Maybe I should wear my glasses more often.

 

That's normal. You don't have oil pressure when your engine isn't running.

 

The oil light turns on when there is no oil pressure and turns off when there is oil pressure only when the engine is on. If the oil pressure light is on when the engine is running it could mean that you are low on oil or there is a potentially disastrous defect that could destroy the engine. Your best bet would be to shut down the engine if the oil light goes on while the engine is running.

You might also want to check the owner's manual and if you don't have one you should be able to buy one for $20 or so. Believe me it will be a good investment and you will be surprised at the information it provides.

That is normal for every vehicle (with an oil light) that I have ever operated.

 

Maybe there was a dead fly stuck on it before...

 

Another vote for that's normal, my Springer does it too.

Maybe Deeley stuck that there to just mess with you Seriously, its normal until your pressure is up. Relax and enjoy the ride.
