Default Need advice please. And thank you

Recently bought a used sporty. Come to find out the drain nut for the crank case oil is stripped. I thought I could use plumbers tape as I thought there wasn't pressure I there, but that didn't work. Anyone have any thoughts how how to remedy this?

Thanks in advance and happy Easter!!

Try putting some RTV gasket maker type silicone around it do not run it in hard all the way just snug it up. Start the bike and just let it idle for a long time and get good and hot to seal. Do not put the bike under any load just idle till hot, shut it down and let it cool completely and see if it seals up.

Thank you. I'll check those both out.
On another note. I had also adjusted the clutch numerous times, but it still slips. It's a 1988. I'm not as mechanically inclined as I'd like to be. Is it difficult to replace the clutch on this?.

Just watched a few YouTube videos. The guy I bought it from had just replaced the clutch cable. Maybe he used the wrong size and it isn't tightening down enough...

And may you also enjoy the blessings of the Season.

I'm personnally not real comfortable with Jury-Rigged repairs, particularly on something as important as a stripped crankcase oil drain nut. If you lose the oil, you lose the engine and also if you get oil on the rear tire you also lose rear tire traction. Potentially, a recipe for disaster and it could happen anytime and anyplace. My suggestion is to have an Indy mechanic who works regularly on Sportsters look at it and have him do a proper repair. In my judgement you're sitting on a stick of dynamite... Get a proper fix and sleep well at night - as always, YMMV.
