Default Missouri House OKs lifting motorcycle helmet requirement

This has caught me by surprise that my state would actually consider this. As much as Missouri State Poopers like to annoy you about seat belts they are going for the double standard. You have to wear a seat belt but possibly soon you dont need a helmet if it passes the state Senate.

I wouldn't doubt the people would want, support and welcome some blow-back on the laws but don't hold your breath,
and in Ferguson I would suggest helmet, flack jacket and S-rat for going to the 7/11.

I have been wearing seat belts since well before it was mandatory and would not be in a cage without one. I hate however being required to wear a helmet and appreciate riding in states where they are not mandatory. Having totaled 2 bikes I never got a scratch on a helmet. That being said I feel it should be left up to the individual. Just my .02.

Skeptical.
But, they do seem to accomplish things in quiet like the recent repeal of the ban on Sunday vehicle sales. The dealership lobby won that one finally; not sure what money is advocating repeal of the helmet law in Missouri.

this has made it to the governors desk a couple of times in the past and he vetoed it. what i don't get is the house and senate passed it by something like 83% . how can the governor then veto what is the people's choice ? i thought he was suppose to be backing what the people want in the state ? i guess someone with money got to him again.

Gov Nixon is a dumbocrap and will veto this again. What I don't understand is why it is not over ridden by the legislature.
Missouri finally got CCW that way, but not helmet repeal. Strange.

That's good news for the helmet haters!

I wear one to block some of the noise and bugs with my face shield. And hoping, it might help in a crash.
